I've been lucky to support the NYC-based Baroque ensemble The Sebastians' audio and video production needs for their 2021-2022 season. For their 2021 Oktoberfest concert the group invited two visual artists to create works in real time during the performance. This concert required managing an audio recording rig, 6 video cameras as well as an additional live feed to a projector. See this and more concerts at www.sebastians.org/nyc-series
Clairvoyance, as featured in the 2021 PROTOTYPE festival, is a piece for three acapella upper voices, set to a text by Samiya Bashir. I was responsible for combining the three singers' isolated performances into a coherent whole, in a "virtual choir" style that has become familiar to many during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the resulting collaborative work is anything but familiar, and I think it's a great example of what is possible in this new pandemic-driven genre of virtual collaboration.
In another collaboration with designer Camilla Tassi, I helped the Apollo's Fire MUSETTES youth ensemble create a virtual performance of medieval French carols. Like other virtual projects, this required the complex syncing of dozens of audio tracks, each recorded individually, while ensuring that audio and video remained synced. The finished product can be seen at their Youtube Page.
